A typical session lasts about 20-45 minutes, depending on the area treated.
There is little to no downtime. Patients may experience mild redness for a few hours to a few days. Most patients return to regular activities on the same day.
A series of 3-5 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. Maintenance sessions are suggested 1-2 times per year.
Improvements can be seen after the first session, with continued improvement after each treatment.
IPL works best for those with fair to light-medium skin tones. It is not ideal for very dark skin, as it may cause discoloration.
Before:
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for 2-4 weeks.
- Stop using retinoids and harsh skincare products 3-5 days prior.
After:
- Avoid direct sun and heat for at least 48 hours.
- Don’t pick or scrub darkening spots; let them flake off naturally.
