Tara Adams: The Art & Science of Aesthetics

Tara Adams, founder of The Edge Aesthetics & Co., combines the precision of a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with the eye of a seasoned artist, making her an expert in medical aesthetics. Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board and holding a Critical Care Registered Nurse certification, Tara brings 24 years of medical experience to her practice.

Before her career in medicine, Tara was a talented muralist and portrait artist, developing a keen understanding of balance, symmetry, and fine detail—an invaluable skill set in the world of aesthetics. Her artistic background gives her a unique perspective when performing aesthetic procedures, allowing her to enhance natural beauty with precision and artistry.

Her years in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) honed her meticulous approach, emphasizing safety, attention to detail, and patient-centered care. As a skilled aesthetic injector, she seamlessly merges medical expertise with artistic vision, ensuring that each patient achieves natural, harmonious results through state-of-the-art techniques.

Beyond her profession, Tara is a devoted mother to three children—Bayleigh, Bryce, and Brodie—who keep her active and engaged in their academic and community pursuits. An animal lover, she shares her home with a bulldog and three cats. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to the mountains or the Florida Keys, staying fit, and cooking.

Tara’s mission is simple: to provide safe, personalized, and expertly crafted aesthetic treatments that enhance confidence and natural beauty. With a passion for both art and medicine, she is redefining the standard of care in medical aesthetics.

Q&A with Tara

What inspired you to start The Edge Aesthetics & Co.?

I wanted the freedom to make creative, thoughtful choices—not just in how treatments were delivered, but in the entire patient experience. I envisioned a space where every detail, from the treatment plan to the atmosphere, was intentionally designed to serve the patient’s needs and goals at the highest level. Working for someone else often meant compromising on quality, innovation, or connection—and that left me feeling stifled. I knew I could create something better: a place where people feel seen, valued, and confident in their care, every step of the way.

How do you define beautiful?

Beautiful is a feeling. It’s not just about how we look—it’s about how we feel in our own skin. True beauty comes from the quiet confidence that radiates when we feel happy, comfortable, and fully ourselves. It’s the joy of self-acceptance, the peace of embracing our uniqueness, and the strength that comes from knowing we are enough. Beauty isn’t something to chase—it’s something we unlock when we care for ourselves, inside and out.

How does your background as an artist influence your work with clients?

My background as an artist gives me a unique perspective when working with clients. It allows me to see balance, symmetry, and subtle beauty in ways that often go unnoticed—even by the clients themselves. I don’t believe in changing someone’s appearance, but rather in enhancing what’s already there. Sometimes, it’s just a small, artful adjustment—a gentle tweak that brings harmony to their features or draws out their natural glow. These details might seem minor, but they can make a world of difference in how someone feels about themselves. Watching a client light up with renewed self-confidence, often after addressing something they didn’t even realize was holding them back—that’s the most rewarding part of what I do.

Walk us through a typical consultation process. What’s your approach?

When a patient comes in, I always start by handing them a mirror and asking, “What brings you in today? What are your concerns?” I never want to assume or point something out unless it genuinely bothers them. Everyone sees themselves differently, and my role is to listen first.

For example, I had a client recently who told me she was self-conscious about her nose. But as I looked at her profile, I noticed it wasn’t her nose at all—it was a slightly recessed chin that was affecting the overall balance of her features. We added just a bit of volume to her chin, and the difference was remarkable. Suddenly, her nose didn’t “stick out” anymore, and she couldn’t believe how much more harmonious her face looked. She left beaming, saying she finally felt confident in a way she hadn’t for years.

That’s the beauty of this work—it’s about seeing the whole picture and making subtle, strategic enhancements that elevate someone’s natural beauty.

I always take time to educate my patients on how aging affects the structure of the face, and we talk about the journey toward their goals. It’s rarely a one-and-done treatment. Most people benefit from a multi-modality approach, spread out over time. But we go at their pace—there’s no pressure. We’ll never do anything they’re not 100% comfortable with, and I’ll never overdo a face. My goal is always to preserve what makes someone uniquely beautiful while helping them feel more confident and refreshed.
